Video of Meteorologist with Baby Strapped to Back While on Air Has Been Viewed Over a Million Times

With all the mom-shaming that seems to go on in social media circles, it’s good to see some parental positivity.

One mom from Minnesota has gone viral for a very special guest she had with her during a weather report on Oct. 5, 2018.

Susie Martin is a director of operations and a certified meteorologist with Praedictix. She is also the working mother of a 1-year-old boy.

All working parents know that juggling work, life and parenthood can present many challenges. Martin wanted to encourage parents by setting an example.

The viral video shared on Facebook features Martin wearing her son on her back. He seems content as can be to rest on his mother’s back while she gives the weather report.

“I wanted to promote this wonderful tool that’s helped me as a mom and the bonding experience between mother and son,” Martin told ABC’s “Good Morning America.”

Babywearing has become increasingly popular among moms, dads and caregivers alike, but the practice dates back years and even centuries, according to Mom Loves Best.

Have you tried "babywearing"?

“I suppose it’s a way for the baby to be comforted,” Martin said. “It was nice for me personally because I could multitask while comforting my child.”

Following her viral video, which garnered over 1 million views, Martin filmed another video for Brut explaining exactly why she believes babywearing is so important.

“It’s been shown to help a lot with postpartum depression, postpartum anxiety,” she said. “Never underestimate the power of that physical contact and that bond.”

This can hopefully be a great encouragement to moms everywhere who might be struggling with multitasking or returning to work.

“I think to promote it in this way is creative,” Dr. Jason Homme, assistant professor of pediatrics at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, told Good Morning America. “I’m strongly pro-bonding and pro-mom … and mom getting it done at work.”
