Tom Brady Officially Caves and Joins Twitter, Announces 'Retirement'
Don’t. Even. Joke.
New England Patriots fans who forgot that it’s April Fools’ Day might been panicking when quarterback Tom Brady tweeted on Monday that he had decided to retire.
After resisting the majority of social media, and Twitter in particular, for most of his career, the six-time Super Bowl champion has seemingly caved and finally joined Twitter.
Brady’s first post said simply, “I’m retiring. In my spare time, I’ll be tweeting.”
I’m retiring. In my spare time, I’ll be tweeting #LFG

An email from a Twitter spokeswoman confirmed the account, but it also referred to the fact that the tweet came on April Fools’ Day.
In case there was any doubt that Brady was trying to be funny about a faux “retirement,” Brady’s second tweet asked if his first tweet was “a bad joke.”
Was this a bad joke?

Unsurprisingly, reactions were quick and covered a wide range of emotions. Everyone from Patriots teammates to even Twitter itself reacted to Brady’s tweet.

Brady is a 41-year-old, three-time NFL MVP who has to stop playing some time.
But after leading New England to the title last year, there’s no indication that he’s slowing down.
And anyway, is this how he would announce it?
Even tight end Rob Gronkowski, who actually retired last month, did so with a lengthy Instagram post.
Neither Brady’s agent nor the Patriots immediately responded to emails seeking comment.
Unfortunately for opposing fans and NFL teams hoping to see a swift demise to the Patriots’ recent run of success, it seems like Tom Brady isn’t quite gone from their lives just yet.
