Atheists Throw a Fit Because Trump Mentioned Jesus... During a Prayer Breakfast

Share

Atheists with the so-called American Humanist Association threw a fit last week after President Donald Trump only referenced Christianity — and the central figure of Christianity, Jesus Christ — during remarks made at the 65th annual National Prayer Breakfast.

“Past Presidents have repeatedly acknowledged humanists, nonthesists [sic], and non-Christians, even in their Prayer Breakfast remarks, adhering to the First Amendment concept that government be neutral on matters of religion,” the association whined in a statement published after the breakfast last Thursday.

“Trump has taken these government-endorsed prayer breakfasts to a new low, demonstrating his ignorance and disdain for the growing diversity of faiths and philosophies found in the country he’s supposed to be leading,” added the association’s executive director, Roy Speckhardt.

Let’s be clear: These people are idiots.

According to The Washington Post, one of the most left-wing national media outlets in the country, “The National Prayer Breakfast is a massive ecumenical gathering put on annually by a group of Christians who want to focus on a shared admiration of Jesus.”

Read that, and then read it again.

That said, it’s true former presidents have acknowledged other religious groups during the National Prayer Breakfast.

“I can’t imagine a better expression of the peaceful spirit of Islam than when a Muslim father, filled with fear, drew from the example of a Baptist preacher and a Jewish rabbi to teach his children what God demands,” former President Barack Obama, whom many believe is a secret Muslim, said at the 2016 breakfast, according to an archived White House transcript.

But that doesn’t mean it’s mandatory, especially since the event is “put on annually by a group of Christians who want to focus on a shared admiration of Jesus.” Incidentally, focusing on Jesus was exactly what the president did, as noted by The Washington Times.

Do you see anything wrong with what President Trump did and said?

“And to my friend, and everybody’s friend, Steve Scalise, we are so glad to have you with us today. Your presence reminds us of Jesus’ words in the book of Matthew, ‘with God all things are possible,'” he said, referencing Scalise’s speedy recovery after being shot and nearly killed during a shooting last summer.

The president also quoted a passage from the Bible so as to honor military soldiers, police officers, first responders and others who place their lives on the line every day to serve and protect the public.

“As the Bible tells us, ‘For we are God’s handiwork, created in Jesus Christ to do good works.’ America’s heroes rise to this calling. In their selfless deeds, they reveal the beauty and goodness of the human soul,” he said.
