Baby Can't Stop Giggling When Dad Pretends He's Using Pacifier

Share

Ever really stop and think about comfort food? Specifically, what the heck makes it so comforting?

Sure, sometimes you need to sit down with a jumbo-sized bag of M&M’s after a stressful day because, chocolate. And everyone knows a Netflix binge session pairs perfectly with a big, gooey bowl of mac and cheese.

But it’s hard to explain precisely why these things lift our spirits. Maybe it’s a favorite association from childhood — or perhaps, it’s their very simplicity.

The same might be said for our sense of humor. Occasionally, something just strikes our funny bone and produces a non-stop case of the giggles.

Want proof? Watch the nearest baby for a few minutes.

Infants and toddlers are notorious for their ability to find joy in life’s most nominal details. Any 2-year-old can tell you that belly buttons and raspberry blowing are absolutely hilarious.

One baby’s chortle in particular recently lit up social media, and viewers everywhere are snickering right along because this kiddo’s dad is laughing pretty heartily himself.

Sure enough, the viral Facebook video snippet is randomly straightforward. The father holds his child in his arms and decides to try out the little one’s pacifier.

Do you find baby giggles to be contagious?

So he places it in his mouth for a few seconds. Cute, but no real need to alert the relatives.

All of a sudden, however, the kid cracks up. And the sound is so effervescent and sweet that it sets off a lengthy chain reaction of chuckles.

Dad actually starts guffawing so hard that he spits the pacifier right out of his mouth. And naturally, that makes his kiddo nearly collapse in amusement.

Pretty soon, both the father’s head and the baby’s tiny noggin are thrown back in hysterics. The preoccupied parent actually has to remove his glasses, because his eyes are watering like crazy.

Then he puts the pacifier back in his mouth and spits it out on purpose. Now everyone’s laughing so much they can hardly stand it.

That includes the lady trying to hold the camera steady. It’s probably Mom, and she’s definitely overcome with a sense of helpless hilarity.

After a while, it’s likely nobody can even explain why they’re laughing. It’s just an uncomplicated sense of joy, pouring out of them.

In fact, it’s hard to watch the whole thing with a straight face. And come to think of it, maybe the reason why doesn’t matter so much after all.

There’s a quote that has been attributed to Robert Brault that says, “Enjoy the little things in life because one day you’ll look back and realize they were the big things.”
