Best Buy Employees 'Fix' Toddler's Beloved Toy Dinosaur That Broke
While Disney’s “Doc McStuffins” may be the most well-known toy doctor around, it turns out Best Buy has a couple of awesome employees who also know how to make a toy “feel better.”
When Niah Negron’s 3-year-old son Jordan found himself with a broken “Dino Baby” raptor Fingerling toy, it was the end of his world.
According to Negron, this toy was more than just a toy. “The dinosaur was his Christmas present this past year. He tells everyone that it’s his baby,” Negron told Good Morning America. “He spent the whole morning sitting there holding his dinosaur with a broken head with the saddest look on his face.”
Of course, such an important toy couldn’t merely be replaced. If “Toy Story” has taught us anything, it’s that some toys are special one-of-a-kind friends that stay with us well into our college years and beyond.
Negron had a plan, as any awesome mom does. She ordered a replacement toy, but couldn’t let Jordan know it wasn’t the original “Dino Baby.”
So off she went to the Best Buy on Atlantic Boulevard in Jacksonville, Florida. Thankfully, Negron had found the same toy available for same day pick up from the electronics (and more) chain.
The mom explains what happened next in her heartwarming Facebook post. “We walk in and go to the pick-up desk and I explain to them, ‘We are here for a very delicate matter. You see, we need to see the dinosaur doctor, as the head has broken on our baby dinosaur!’”
Negron went on to add, “I am showing “T” [one of the Best Buy employees] my pick up order on my phone as little man is explaining the details of how the head broke.”
The employees, Tina May and Stephanie Pierce could have given the mom a confused look. They could have chosen not to play along.
Instead, they went above in beyond and took the baby dino into surgery behind the counter. While verifying the order, they pretended to perform a miracle on the headless toy.
“‘Just a few more stitches,’ they explained, as little man was anxiously awaiting his ‘fixed’ baby,'” Negron wrote. “And just like that, they were done.”
Of course, Jordan was ecstatic to have his “one and only” baby dino back in one piece. What kid wouldn’t be?
The mom expressed that she will be “forever grateful” to May and Pierce for making her son’s day. They make a dynamic team for sure!
“I handed it to him, and his eyes just gleamed, he was so excited,” Pierce said, according to a post on Best Buy’s corporate blog.
“When he saw the dinosaur, his whole demeanor changed — his face lit up so much,” May said. “We made that little boy’s day.”
What a heartwarming tale that will surely last with this mom always. Jordan may not remember the day his baby saw the dino doctor, but we have a feeling Negron will be telling this story for years to come.
