Blatant Hate: Comedy Central Writer Wishes Justice Kennedy 'Had Been Shot'

Share

Leftists across the country melted down on Wednesday when news broke that Justice Anthony Kennedy will be retiring from the Supreme Court next month.

Their frustration is understandable. After all, as Dan Epps, an associate professor of law at Washington University School of Law, explained, “It’s the most consequential change to the Supreme Court’s membership in many decades.”

The reality that President Donald Trump will be able to fill the vacant seat and change the ideologically leaning of the nation’s highest court for decades to come sent the left into a collective meltdown.

Some of the key leftist issues are on the line — abortion, the furthering of the LGBTQ agenda, affirmative action, and the list goes on.

Some on the left, however, went way beyond being reasonably frustrated or worried.

Curtis Cook, a Los Angeles-based writer for Comedy Central, said he wished Justice Kennedy had been killed instead of President John F. Kennedy, or former United States Attorney General Robert Kennedy.

Do you think the left is become more violent?

“I wish this Kennedy had been shot instead of the other ones,” read the now-deleted tweet, which linked to an AP headline on the announcement, Washington Examiner reported.

His tweet received immediate backlash from other Twitter users who called him out for the despicable suggestion.

Others simply pointed out the stupidity of the tweet:

Sadly, this kind of violent language is becoming increasingly commonplace.

This past week, California Rep. Maxine Waters encouraged her supporters to physically harass and intimidate Trump officials whenever possible.

On Monday, a leftist writer relished the idea of bombs exploding in American cities.

“Read a recent history book. The U.S. had thousands of domestic bombings per year in the early 1970s,” wrote Hamilton Nolan, a senior writer for Splinter News. “This is what happens when citizens decide en masse that their political system is corrupt, racist, and unresponsive. The people out of power have only just begun to flex their dissatisfaction. The day will come, sooner than you all think, when Trump administration officials will look back fondly on the time when all they had to worry about was getting hollered at at a Mexican restaurant.”

It’s a dark day in America when people’s first response to political angst is thoughts of violence.

And the consequences could be deadly.
