Boy Hoping for Baby Brother Has Meltdown After Mom Pops Balloon for Gender Reveal
A disappointed boy from Australia says he’s moving in with grandma, after learning his mother is expecting a baby girl.
Kaleb already has two younger sisters and has zero interest in living with another girl.
Grandma Dorothy Symonds, from Rockingham, Western Australia, explained that her daughter was pregnant with her fourth child. Her grandson, Kaleb, was hoping to even things out with a boy.
The family of five stood together, mom holding a large black balloon covered in white question marks.
Kaleb closed his eyes and clenched his fists, desperately hoping the moment of truth would fall in his favor.
“At the gender reveal my daughter popped the balloon and boom, it’s a girl,” Symonds said. As pink confetti flew through the air, Symonds captured the family’s reactions on video.
Kaleb, in dramatic fashion, dropped to his knees. He belted out a lamenting “nooooooo!” unable to come to terms with such bitter disappointment.
As Kaleb continued his meltdown on the floor, laughter and giggles floated through the air at his over-the-top reaction. He really did not want a sister.
But grandmothers are made for soothing hurt feelings. Maybe Kaleb could find a little solace with grandma — maybe he’d pack his things up right now and run away to grandma’s house.
“After the reveal, my grandson proceeded to get a tub of ice cream and go into an emotional eating frenzy,” Symonds said. We understand, Kaleb — ice cream and grandmothers do solve a lot of problems.
“Was very funny,” Symonds said of the entire event. “He says he is coming to live with me now as he does not want to live with three sisters.”
Symond’s video has gained global attention, which she said has also been somewhat of a salve to Kaleb’s wound. “He said he’s happy because he’s famous now,” Symonds joked in a Facebook comment.
I guess if you can’t have the baby brother of your dreams, you can take comfort in the fleeting success of internet fame. We hope Kaleb comes around in the end.
