Bride Stops at Hospital On Way To Ceremony. Knows She Can't Marry Without Seeing Grandma First
Weddings are a wonderful time to celebrate the love between two people surrounded by their family and friends. But it is always hard when a loved one cannot be present.
So, one bride made sure that her grandmother, who was too sick to make it to the ceremony, was still part of her special day.
Her grandmother had been admitted to St. Charles Hospital in New York just a week before the wedding and had planned on witnessing her granddaughter exchange vows.
A chronic obstructive pulmonary disease was going to keep the woman from being part of the ceremony until her granddaughter hatched a plan to make sure she wouldn’t miss it.
Dressed in her wedding gown and veil, she walked into her grandmother’s hospital room and the look on her face says it all.
Her grandmother gasped as she marveled at the beauty of her granddaughter’s dress.
“Oh my goodness,” she said, her emotions keeping her from saying too much.
After the initial wave of emotions passed, the bride then prepared her grandmother for family pictures.
She slipped a corsage onto her grandmother’s wrist and then held onto her hand. The older woman looked up at her granddaughter in admiration, with love in her eyes.
They posed for pictures, and then handed over an iPad that had been set up for the grandmother to FaceTime into the ceremony.
Despite the fact that she was stuck in the hospital, she would still get to watch her granddaughter get married — over the magic of technology.
She was watching closely because as soon as the bride returned after the ceremony, her grandmother asked if she had saved her a piece of cake!
It’s amazing how technology continues to connect people. And we know that the grandmother was thankful to still be part of that special day.
