Buffalo Bills snatch key coach from Nick Saban's championship coaching staff
If having won a championship is the sign of a good offensive coordinator, then the Buffalo Bills have hired a really, really good offensive coordinator.
The Bills have hired University of Alabama offensive coordinator Brian Daboll to the same position, the team announced Sunday.

In addition to having won a national championship with the Crimson Tide this past season, Daboll was member of the New England Patriots coaching staff a year ago when the Patriots defeated the Atlanta Falcons to win Super Bowl LI.
In two separate stints with the Patriots, Daboll won five Super Bowl rings.
Daboll went to high school in the Buffalo area and played college football in Rochester, New York. He also owns a home in the Buffalo area.
“We are excited to hire Brian as our offensive coordinator and welcome him back to Western New York,” Bills coach Sean McDermott said in a statement posted on the team’s website. “I know how much this area means to him. He is a good coach and a good teacher and a part of winning programs in the NFL and college.”
Daboll replaces Rick Dennison, who was fired by the Bills on Friday after just one season with the team.
While Daboll spent last season with Alabama — where he was one of the highest-paid assistant coaches in the country — he comes to the Bills with 17 years of NFL experience.
Eleven of those years were spent in New England. He previously served as an offensive coordinator with the Cleveland Browns, Miami Dolphins and Kansas City Chiefs.
Buffalo’s offense was the team’s weak link last season. It ranked 29th overall in the NFL and 31st in passing and scored only 28 touchdowns.

For the Crimson Tide, it means more turnover at a position that has seen the departures of Lane Kiffin, Steve Sarkisian and Daboll in the last two years.
It also means Alabama coach Nick Saban will have to find a new defensive and offensive coordinator following the departure of DC Jeremy Pruitt.
Alabama is coming off a national championship game victory in which sophomore Jalen Hurts was replaced at halftime by freshman Tua Tagovailoa, who led the Tide to 26 second-half points and a 26-23 overtime victory.
