CEO Forced To Publicly Apologize After Saying He's Smarter Than Trump

Share

On Wednesday morning, JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon claimed he was smarter than President Donald Trump.

By lunchtime, however, he had proved the opposite by apologizing for his bizarre statements and admitting he would actually make a bad president.

“I think I could beat Trump,” Dimon said, according to The Daily Caller.

He backed up his claim by attacking Trump’s intelligence.

“I’m as tough as he is, I’m smarter than he is,” Dimon boasted.

Dimon also compared his financial status to Trump’s, arguing that he had earned his own wealth while Trump had merely inherited his.

“This wealthy New Yorker actually earned his money. It wasn’t a gift from daddy,” he said, according to CBS News.

If Dimon was truly as smart as he thought he was, he probably would not have made those comments to begin with.

By noon, Dimon had sent out a statement backpedaling rapidly from his previous claim, according to Bloomberg.

Do you think Trump is smarter than Dimon?

“I should not have said it. I’m not running for president. Proves I wouldn’t make a good politician. I get frustrated because I want all sides to come together to help solve big problems,” the statement read.

This entire situation is evidence that Dimon isn’t actually that intelligent. If he did not intend on running for president, he shouldn’t suggest that he could beat Trump.

Additionally, if Dimon really wanted all sides to come together “to solve big problems,” maybe he shouldn’t have singled out one side to attack. Or more specifically, one person — one very powerful and influential person.

The fact that Dimon had to eat his boastful words just hours later should be humiliating for him.

In all likelihood, Dimon hastily created his apology after realizing that it was a bad decision to challenge Trump. Millions of people voted for Trump, and they are not afraid to boycott.

Trump himself has also shown in the past that he is not afraid to take shots at Dimon. In 2013, Trump called Dimon the “worst banker in the United States” for allegedly contributing to the country’s economic downturn.

“I’m not Jamie Dimon, who pays $13 billion to settle a case and then pays $11 billion to settle a case and who I think is the worst banker in the United States,” Trump said at the time.

If Trump decided to call Dimon “the worst banker in the United States” again, he would likely be stuck with that nickname for a long time.

This should be a lesson to those who want to attack President Trump’s intelligence. You’ll probably regret it and have to issue an awkward apology.
