Chick-fil-A Cashier Goes Above & Beyond to Make Sure Customer Gets Money Back
It goes without saying that Chick-fil-A is well known for its company values. This chain holds a high standard for service and hospitality, and its employees are always warm and friendly, often going above and beyond to truly make it their pleasure to serve you.
“We believe, with all our hearts, that kindness is a higher calling,” the “We are Chick-fil-A” ad below promises. “Being your best requires hard work.”
One such Chick-fil-A restaurant in Lubbock, Texas, is being praised for one very exceptional, and extremely honest, employee. Marcus Henderson has shown just how seriously he takes his red uniform.
One day, while manning the drive-thru, Henderson came across regular restaurant-goer, Danny Cadra. The transaction went as usual, aside from one minor detail.
Cadra drove away without his three dollars and some change. The small amount is barely enough for a gallon of gas in some states, but the value Henderson held for it ended up being much greater indeed.
“I’m supposed to keep this and give it back to him,” Henderson explained in an interview. “I knew he was a regular, I was going to see him again eventually.”
Although it would have been easy to forget about the change after a day or two, this employee of the century was determined not to let the amount slide, however small. “It was basically a part of my uniform,” Henderson relayed, recalling how he placed the money in an envelope and put it in his back pocket every day.
While Cadra was a regular, Henderson had no way of knowing when he might actually come in. It could have been during his shift, or he may not have been at the restaurant at all.
Still, Henderson didn’t lose hope he’d have the opportunity to return the change to its rightful owner. It took almost a month, but eventually the fateful day came when Cadra returned.
“What a breath of fresh air. It meant that much to him, so it meant even that much more to me,” Cadra shared.
This small act of kindness has gone viral, but Henderson has remained humble about the experience. “I’m called to serve these people well,” he said.
Because of Henderson’s small gesture, he and Cadra have become friends. I think we can agree this one act has also motivated us all to “eat mor chikin.”
