College Football Coach from Popular Show Resigns After Saying, 'I'm Your New Hitler'
Imagine for a moment that you’re a college football coach and you wake up one morning determined to get fired in the most explosively public, media-circus way you can think of. And let’s say for sake of argument that you don’t want to physically harm anyone …
Saying “I’m your new Hitler” to one of your German players… That would be one heck of a way to do it, wouldn’t it?
Well, that’s the route Jason Brown, football coach at Independence Community College, featured on Season 3 of “Last Chance U,” took after he got caught texting the offending phrase to freshman player Alexandros Alexiou, who then posted the messages on social media.

The Montgomery County Chronicle first reported the story last week.
Brown called Alexiou “you German f**k” in one text message between the coach and the player, according to the Chronicle.
Brown also texted Alexiou to inform him that he’d been cut from the team and that his scholarship had been revoked, the Chronicle reported.
The affair forced Dan Barwick, president of the school in Independence, Kansas, to issue a statement.
Barwick said, “Independence Community College does not condone the language Coach Brown used in his message. I have spoken with Coach Brown about his message to the student, and he fully understands that his language was not appropriate. The college is investigating the matter and will have no further statement at this time.”
Which brings us to Sunday and Brown’s resignation.

Brown posted his resignation letter to Twitter.
To all my fans, supporters, both past and present players, and coaches, please read the following letter that I have posted and please respect my decision. Much love to you all, W.I.N. FOREVER! Once a Pirate always a Pirate! #DREAMU pic.twitter.com/M88TcQKvDQ

Of particular interest, he wrote that the Montgomery County Chronicle “has greatly diminished my ability to successfully do my job, and has set this program back significantly, and the cumulative effect of all these detrimental factors I believe clearly constitute a constructive discharge of my employment.”
Which … well, the Montgomery County Chronicle didn’t tell a German exchange student “I’m your new Hitler” and call him “you German f**k.”
Shooting the messenger isn’t a good look.
Brown listed off all of his accomplishments as coach, thanked his players for their hard work, and otherwise put together an audition tape for wherever he might be hired next.
But the ending of the letter can’t help but catch some attention.
“History was made here, make no mistake about it!” Brown wrote.
Well, he was right about that
Season 3 of “Last Chance U” aired in the summer of 2018 and is available on Netflix, which produces the show as part of its block of original entertainment for its subscribers.
