Couple Finds Hilarious Message from Former Homeowners Behind Wall During Bathroom Remodel

Share

There’s nothing quite like nesting. You know, that period of time when an expectant mother wants to do one thing and one thing alone.

Clean, organize, paint, you name it. The closer it gets to the big due date, the more a pregnant momma wants her nest to be in tip top shape.

Even if that means a large project like a bathroom remodel. And that’s exactly what Jess and Alex Monney opted to do.

With 4 weeks to go until their baby’s arrival, this couple decided it was as good a time as any to spruce up the bathroom in their California home.

“I think I might be a little crazy for kicking off a bathroom remodel 4 weeks before I’m due,” Jess shared in a caption on Twitter.

But it’s not Jess’ sudden urge for new tiles and paint that has the internet rolling in laughter. Rather, it’s what the Monneys discovered behind the old tiles and paint that’s truly hilarious.

According to a message written on the wall, this is not the first remodel the San Jose home has seen. In 1995, another set of owners decided to do the exact same thing.

Alex Monney tweeted a snapshot of the photo their contractor found while working on the bathroom. “Hi! We’re the Shinsekis,” the message began.

Apparently, the Shinsekis had a sense of humor. “We remodeled this bathroom summer 1995…” their message continued. “…What’s wrong with the way we did it?!?!”

Though Alex’s original tweet and photo has since been removed, that didn’t stop the whirlwind of responses from coming in.

Followers seem to be more concerned with the bunny included in the photo than with the remodel hilarity.

Yes, that’s correct. The Shinsekis also pasted a photo of their pet rabbit, Cassie, just beneath their remodel message.

In case you were wondering, Cassie was potty trained. I’m sure the Monneys would pay good money to sit down with Shinsekis over coffee, and find out exactly what happened to Cassie.

But that’s a story and a conversation for another day. For now, the Monneys will continue their remodel as they anxiously wait for their baby to be born.
