Creep Gropes American Tourist, Finds Out Who She Really Is in A Hurry
In the 15 months since President Donald Trump took office, the world has learned a thing or two about the judicious use of American power.
On a street in Dublin last month, a sexist thug learned the same kind of lesson from an American woman traveling alone.
Because when a push came to shove, Leanna Carr took matters into her own hands — literally.
Carr, a 26-year-old bodybuilder from Fort Collins, Colorado, was molested on a Dublin street by a thug who grabbed her rear end, then mocked her when she protested.
“I was walking in a hurry to catch my bus, when I felt someone grab my (butt), hard. I turned around a little shocked initially, and said ‘what the f***’ to him,” Carr told the Irish Independent. “He started laughing, and said ‘oh you’re an American… you probably liked it.'”
She is an American. She didn’t “like it.” And she let him know pretty quick — with a solid punch in the face.
“I am never a violent person, and I have never punched anyone before…,” she told the Independent. “But I became so angry and had so much adrenaline that my reaction was to punch him. I got him on the cheek bone, hard.”
Now, that’s the America the world needs to see.
And when Carr posted about the experience on Twitter, the world was cheering.
Here’s her initial tweet:
While walking down the street in Dublin earlier this week, a man grabbed my butt. He proceeded to laugh hysterically and said “you’re an American, you probably liked it”. Apparently traveling solo has made me a better person bc my first reaction was to punch him in the face 😳 pic.twitter.com/qJ82a3iimI

And here are some of the responses:
I hope his face hurts more than your knuckles do.

As a fellow solo travler, YAAAAAS GIRL

You did what is needed for us all!! Your knuckles look as though he might remember this encounter for a good while

That last one put it well. Even in 2018, women traveling the world alone are going to face hazards solo men won’t because perverts are everywhere, and all the #MeToo movements that ever were or ever will be won’t make that go away.
Carr was lucky she’s physically capable of doing what she did, and she was in a lighted public place that made doing so safely possible, but she was literally striking a blow for every woman who’s been assaulted like this and hasn’t been so lucky.
Since the tweet went viral, Carr has been interviewed by Fox News, written up by Newsweek, and otherwise become a mini-star of the internet stage, because no one wants a guy like this getting away with mauling women on a street corner.
And the fact that he insulted American womanhood in the process just meant he had it coming even more.
What’s really nice about this is that Carr made it clear she would rather not have had to use physical force. She’s clearly got strength, but she also has brains.
“I don’t think violence is always the answer, and I did get lucky that the altercation didn’t end up badly for me,” she told the Independent. “Going forward, I do think it’s important be trained for self-defense and be a little more cautious of my surroundings, especially while traveling alone. I think he will think twice before he does that again to a woman.”
If he has any sense he’ll think twice. He might even think three times if he thinks that woman is an American.
And thanks to the power of social media, it’s a good bet there are a lot of other guys around the world who will be doing the same thing.
American strength isn’t something to be toyed with.
