Customer Pays It Forward to Grocery Cashier that Brings Joy to Everyone He Meets

Share

The “Pay it Forward” mentality is becoming contagious — in a good way. More and more people are stepping out with a desire to recognize others for their good deeds.

In Arizona, CBS 5/3 TV has become well known for its “Pay it Forward” stories. Stories such as these melt our hearts and make us want to “pay it forward” the next time we see someone extending kindness when it’s needed most.

One cashier at a Fry’s grocery store in Phoenix has been recognized for exactly that. Ivory Reed isn’t the kind of man who complains on the job.

In fact, he does the opposite. Reed’s customers know that when they go through his line, they can expect a warm smile and a friendly word.

CBS 5/3 TV reported that many customers choose to wait longer just to say hello to this man. He’s definitely making an impact on the people in his community.

Adina Cervantes and her daughter Meah are two customers who have been impacted by Reed. These ladies decided to recognize him for the difference he makes each day.

Cervantes knew of the news station’s “pay it forward” stories and decided to tell the outlet about Reed. CBS 5/3 TV was more than happy to help Cervantes and her daughter.

“We value him,” Cervantes told CBS 5/3 TV. “And we come back to this store because of employees like him.”

I’ll bet the manager of this particular store loved hearing that. I wouldn’t be surprised if Reed has earned “Employee of the Month” on more than one occasion.

During his interview with the station, Reed shared, “Sometimes people have bad days… I like to make them laugh… by the time they leave my line, they’re laughing all the way out the door.”

His positive attitude and inspiring outlook on life make me want to head to his store and hop into his line. He seems like a stand-up guy!

Cervantes and her daughter were able to give Reed $500 on behalf of the “Pay it Forward” program.

They presented the gift in Reed’s check out line where he shows kindness to his customers every day.
