Customer Surprises Grandmother Delivering Pizzas with Gift: 'God Is So Good'
The holiday season is busy for everyone. Lines at retail stores are longer. Parking spots become more difficult to find than usual.
Even pizza delivery takes longer. An order that might normally arrive in under an hour ends up taking longer than it would have if you’d picked up the pizzas yourself.
This is what happened to the West family in Georgia. They’d ordered pizza from Papa John’s as part of their 4-year-old’s birthday celebration.
Unfortunately, that pizza delivery took much longer than the West family had anticipated. They ended up waiting more than an hour and a half for the birthday meal.
Instead of complaining and getting angry, the West family showed grace to their delivery driver, Pamela Kirby.
Kirby apologized profusely for the delay, as anyone would, and even went the extra mile to call her manager at Papa John’s so the Wests could receive a refund.
All was made right. Kirby and the Wests went their separate ways until the next week when they just so happened to meet again via another pizza delivery.
It was during their second encounter when this family connected with the struggling grandmother. Kirby shared with them about the need for new tires on her car.
She also expressed her heart for her granddaughters, explaining how she wanted to give them more than she was able for Christmas.
The story touched the West family and moved them to reach out to Kirby in a big way. Jenny West decided to post about Kirby’s situation on Facebook, hoping to gain some support for the driver.
“I have felt to help her has been placed on my heart,” Jenny wrote on Dec. 13, 2018. “So, this year instead of asking for material things, that I do not really need, I have asked to help this sweet woman out.”
The response the family received was even better than they’d hoped. An update shared by Jenny explained that because of “an outpouring of love to help Pam” she would receive new tires, gifts for her granddaughters, and hundreds of dollars worth of gift cards.
Wow! An outpouring of love indeed! And the updates just kept on coming. In the end, Jenny shared Pam would be receiving “4 new tires, an oil change, $825 in gift cards, and tons of toys/books/clothes for her granddaughters!”
“God is good!!” Jenny added. From there she surprised Kirby on camera. Watch her reaction when she realizes she’s not really there to deliver drinks.
“God is so good,” Pam told 11 Alive, echoing the words from Jenny’s Facebook post. It seems these women connected on a deep level of faith and compassion.
“We just wanted to be able to come alongside her and help ease her burdens and… to inspire others too, to do the same,” Jenny said.
