Blue Wave Threat: Democrats Seeking New Russian Probe If They Take Over Congress
More histrionics. More distraction. More chaos. That’s what we get if the Democrats take the House in November.
Because the Republican House Intelligence Committee closed their inquiry in so-called “Russian collusion,” Democrats are salivating at the prospect of taking the House so they can initiate another Russia investigation.
The Associated Press reported on Sunday that plans were already being hatched to look into allegations that Russians interfered in the 2016 election — again — but they are picking and choosing their battles.
The Democrats fear political pushback on issues relating to re-opening the Russia probe, as they may be appearing to “overreach.”
No kidding.
Democrat Rep. Adam Schiff of California said his party would have to “ruthlessly prioritize the most important matters first,” according to the AP.
Schiff and other Democrat lawmakers are looking for any gaps that my appear from the Senate’s or special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation, unless of course Mueller issues findings of his own, and then the strategy could change.
The AP reported that a preliminary list of possible items of interest for a Democratic Russia investigation relaunch could include looking into money laundering, interviewing more witnesses, conducting public hearings, looking into the president’s taxes, and other topics.
But Democrats may be out of luck if they are expecting a smoking gun from any report Mueller issues.
“President Donald Trump’s critics have spent the past 17 months anticipating what some expect will be among the most thrilling events of their lives: special counsel Robert Mueller’s final report on Russian 2016 election interference,” Politico reported Sunday. “They may be in for a disappointment.”
“The public, they say, shouldn’t expect a comprehensive and presidency-wrecking account of Kremlin meddling and alleged obstruction of justice by Trump — not to mention an explanation of the myriad subplots that have bedeviled lawmakers, journalists and amateur Mueller sleuths.”
On Friday The Washington Examiner published a list of things Democrats would do if they won the House in November.
In addition to the Russia relaunch they would also propose more gun control, regulating the internet, raising taxes and eliminating border security of any kind.
Of course, without the Senate or the White House, none of that is going to become law. In other words, Democrats are hoping to waste their time and your money for two years if they take control of the House.
In just two years the Trump administration has made great headway in turning around a ship the Obama administration had steered straight toward socialism.
Losing the House of Representatives would assure Democrats a free passage to creating a stalemate in advancing President Trump’s agenda.
This is the best reason of all to get out and vote in November and stop a Democrat majority in the House from generating continued chaos — which would only begin with reorganizing the Russia investigation histrionics.
