The Dirty Truth About Tlaib: Her 'Hate for Israel’ Overcomes ‘Love for Her Grandmother,’ Says Israeli Minister
Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib was upset that Israel initially banned her and her buddy, Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar, from entering the country on a planned visit to the region.
After much criticism, Israel then modified its position and made it possible for Tlaib to come, but she has now rejected their invitation.
And Israel is furious.
Israel’s Interior Minister Aryeh Deri pointed out Tlaib’s hypocrisy in a series of Friday morning tweets.
“Rep. Tlaib just tweeted that she won’t be coming to Israel,” Deri tweeted. “Just yesterday she sent me a letter, asking to visit her 90-year-old grandmother saying, ‘it might be my last chance to meet her.’
“I approved her request as a gesture of goodwill on a humanitarian basis, but it was just a provocative request, aimed at bashing the State of Israel,” Deri added. “Apparently her hate for Israel overcomes her love for her grandmother.”
Ouch.
Surely, Tlaib wouldn’t use her elderly grandmother as a pawn to manufacture outrage for political gain? Surely she wouldn’t pretend to be perplexed only to reject a clear solution to help address her stated problem?
What would she have to gain? Oh, right. Rage is a better news cycle than accepting a perfectly reasonable offer from Israel.

Somehow Tlaib believes that not visiting her grandmother would be emotionally healthier for her nana than visiting in the middle of politically tumultuous times. But is her grandmother unaware of the controversy? And if she isn’t, how does not going help alleviate any of that concern?
Wait, I’m thinking of this logically and not how I could leverage everything, even familial relationships, for political points and media coverage.

“It would kill a piece of me. I have decided that visiting my grandmother under these oppressive conditions stands against everything I believe in–fighting against racism, oppression & injustice.
“When I won, it gave the Palestinian people hope that someone will finally speak the truth about the inhumane conditions. I can’t allow the State of Israel to take away that light by humiliating me & use my love for my sity to bow down to their oppressive & racist policies.”

According to Fox News, Tlaib’s definition of “oppressive conditions” is Israel asking her not to boycott their own country while she visits.
“[Tlaib’s tweet] was an apparent reference to Tlaib’s earlier pledge not to promote boycotts of Israel during her visit,” Fox News reported. “Tlaib indicated Friday that she did not want to abide by such restrictions.”
One can speculate as to whether or not Israel should have banned Tlaib and Omar from their country.
But one thing is certain: Tlaib would rather ride her self-made wave of fury than actually see her grandmother.
