Share

Sometimes happy endings really do come true.

It was only last week that Moose, a 3-year-old Labrador mix, went viral in a heartwrenching photo shared by a New Jersey animal rescue.

The picture featured Moose patiently waiting at the side of an empty bed, seemingly unaware that his beloved owner had recently passed away.

Animal lovers across the internet felt poor Moose’s pain, and the Facebook post by the North Star Pet Rescue has been shared thousands of times.

In turn, this led to the dark chocolate Labrador finding a forever home with the help of The Eleventh Hour Rescue.

The Eleventh Hour Rescue specializes in saving animals that are on the “death row” of kill shelters.

In a recent post, Eleventh Hour Rescue excitedly announced, “MOOSE HAS BEEN ADOPTED by a wonderful family who will care for and love him for the rest of his life! ….Thank you again to everyone who shared his story!”

This was not the first time that Moose’s life was saved by Eleventh Hour Rescue.

Only a couple of years prior, the rescue paired Moose with his former owner after the loyal Labrador was found outside a shelter tied to a railroad sign.

Moose was passed over for months at a kill shelter in Georgia, and was next in line to be euthanized. Luckily, a shelter volunteer who had fallen in love with Moose’s bubbly personality reached out to Eleventh Hour in New Jersey just in time.

The sweet pup was quickly adopted and things were looking up for Moose until his owner passed away.

Now that Moose was without a home for a second time, Eleventh Hour Rescue worked with North Star Pet Rescue to find his new parents. The rescues partnered together to find Moose a home, and the rest is history.

Thanks to the power of social media, Moose has found a new family to love and care for.

His new owner, Bernadette McCarthy, recently shared a photo of Moose’s eyes gleaming with happiness. At last, a joyful Moose has a sweet smile upon his face.

Eleventh Hour Rescue wrote, “Thanks to so many kind and caring people who have shared this post, Moose’s story has gone VIRAL….we wish all of our dogs had the same chance at finding a home as Moose does now!”

Hopefully, Moose’s story can bring awareness to the many animals still searching for a place to call home.
