Donna Brazile Cornered with 'Yes-or-No' Question, She Plays the Victim Instead
Newly hired Fox News contributor Donna Brazile refused to answer a simple “yes-or-no” question this weekend about the “legitimacy” of President Donald Trump’s 2016 victory.
Liberals are starting to be held accountable for their past comments now that special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation is finished and it was revealed that the Trump did not collude with the Russian government to influence to 2016 election.
One of the most vocal critics of Trump and the “legitimacy” of his presidency over the past two years has been Brazile, the former DNC chairwoman.
In November 2017, USA Today reported that Brazile “absolutely” questioned the legitimacy of Trump’s victory.
Now it’s 2019 and the Russian collusion conspiracy theory is effectively debunked, so it’s the perfect time for Brazile to revisit her past comments.
Fox News chief correspondent Ed Henry directly asked Brazile on Sunday: “Do you now accept the president as the legitimate president of the United States having won the 2016 election fair and square?”
That kind of question really requires only a word answer: “yes” or “no.” But instead of being clear, Brazile characterized herself and others as victims of Trump’s attacks during the 2016 election cycle.
“I believe that the president and his attacks on not just his opponent, but the way in which he’s conducted himself in office as our president, not the Republican president, not his base — he has to prove that he is worthy of the job that George Washington held over 230 years ago,” Brazile said.
The only part of Brazile’s answer that can be even tangentially interpreted as an answer to Henry’s question is the strange bit about George Washington.
If Brazile was implying that Trump needs to be more like George Washington before he can be considered a “legitimate president,” it’s clearly an absurd statement, particularly from Brazile. (This is a woman who wanted Hillary Clinton in the Oval Office, remember.)
The newly hired Fox contributor needs to face the facts: Trump is a legitimate president because he was elected fair square and he did not collude with foreign powers.
Of course, that’s not what she talked about.
“I am now — I will say this to the president: Mr. President, this is the woman you attacked, called me a liar for talking about the Russian investigation during the campaign when we were being attacked,” Brazile continued her rant.
Henry asked his question once more, but Brazile refused to “re-litigate” 2016.
It’s ridiculous that Brazile is trying to paint herself as the victim after she was one of those responsible for stoking the flames of a witch hunt against the president and his campaign staff.
Trump’s criticism of Brazile and others was vindicated because he was absolutely right about the Russian conspiracy theory — and right about the Democratic operatives and their media allies that pumped up the story non-stop since Trump before Trump took office.
It was Trump, not Brazile, who was unfairly attacked nonstop for the past few years.
