Emmy-Winning Actor Rip Torn Dead at Age 88

Actor Rip Torn, born Elmore Rual Torn Jr., has passed away at the age of 88.

His publicist has confirmed Torn’s passing, stating that the actor’s wife and daughter were by his side.

During Torn’s career, he appeared in over 100 films.

Torn was known for his role in “Men in Black” and his Emmy award-winning work as Artie the producer on HBO’s “The Larry Sanders Show.”

He earned an Emmy nomination for every one of “The Larry Sanders Show” six seasons and winning in 1996.

He was also nominated for an Oscar for his role in the drama “Cross Creek” in 1984.

Torn also appeared in the 2004 hit movie “Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story” alongside Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn.

Since news of his passing broke, tributes and heartfelt memories have been pouring in on Twitter.

According to Hollywood Reporter, Torn died peacefully at his home in Lakeville, Connecticut.
