Emotional Moment Family Finds Missing Age 3 Girl Caught on Video
As a parent, nothing is quite as scary as turning around and realizing that you can’t lay eyes on your little one. The tiny life which you were supposed to safeguard has simply up and vanished — and you have no idea where they went.
Plenty of people critique caregivers when young one’s disappear, but parents know how quickly a child can scamper off on his or her own. Fortunately, the case of one missing 3-year-old from Springfield Township, Ohio, has ended in the best way possible.
According to WXIX, little Janyila Turner seemed to vanish into thin air on June 30. She lives with her family in an apartment complex.
Janyila was all ready for bed when she disappeared early Sunday night in her pink snowflake pajamas.
But when her mother began to look for her, she couldn’t locate her daughter. She searched for 20 minutes, growing more and more frantic as time passed.
Eventually, she decided that it was time to get the authorities involved. She called 911, and the recording of her call revealed that she had started to sob.
The mother explained to the operator that she thought Janyila might have sneaked out of their apartment. When the operator asked if the toddler had ever left the premises before, her mom said no.
“Sometimes she plays hide and seek but we always find her,” she said. Soon enough, police descended on the property, searching for clues.
WLWT said that Springfield Township Police and the Urban Search and Rescue Team arrived on site.
More than 50 neighbors joined in the search as well. All in all, almost 100 people were looking for Janyila.
At first, though, the situation seemed dire. They had no leads by the time morning arrived, and all but one of the officers had left.
You can only imagine the horror that threaded its way through her mother’s heart. Understand that the longer a child stays missing, the greater the chance that tragedy has struck.
However, this story concluded with a happy ending, no matter how unlikely that may seem. See, Janyila’s uncle hadn’t stopped looking for her.
While yelling her name, he allegedly heard her answer from an apartment not five units away from her home, a locked apartment everyone believed was vacant. Relatives say Janyila’s uncle proceeded to break down the door and safely retrieved his niece.
Video captured at the scene showed the little girl, alive and unhurt, clinging to him as a host of family members trailed behind. The tone was one of exuberant jubilation, but questions remain.
“How did she end up in a locked apartment?” said Janyila’s grandmother, Janna Green. “And the screen door was locked, so somebody had to of placed her in there and that’s the question that we’re trying to investigate to figure out.”
The investigation into the toddler’s disappearance is currently ongoing. WXIX reported the 3-year-old was taken to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital as a precaution after the ordeal.
