Family in Disbelief After Finally Finding Lost Dog Living on the Street 60 Miles from Home

Share

Pets go missing every day. According to ASPCA, there are millions of animals taken into shelters in the U.S. alone every year.

It’s difficult for any pet owner when a beloved furry friend goes missing. Many times those animals never find their way back home.

But — sometimes — there is a light at the end of the tunnel and a dog or cat miraculously makes its way back into its owner’s arms.

Sertaç Araç of Turkey never expected this to happen to his parents, who lost their three dogs two months ago.

Like any good pet owners, the family searched for the pups. Sadly, the dogs were nowhere to be found and they soon gave up hope.

And then, an unexpected miracle! When Araç was in a town about 60 miles from his parents’ home in June, he saw an animal that looked like one of the dogs named Leo.

Do you have a microchipped pet?

“I took a picture and sent it to my mother and father. I was in doubt,” Araç shared with The Dodo. Anyone else would probably feel the same.

After seeing the photo of the dog that looked like Leo, Araç’s mom and dad drove the 60 miles so they could see the animal up close.

A video was shared on Facebook of what took place next. You have to see this sweet reunion with your eyes to believe it.

“When Leo saw us, he was very happy and we were very happy,” Araç told The Dodo. “We’re so happy Leo is home. I will look carefully everywhere I visit in hopes we find [the other two dogs]. My father and mother will continue to search as long as they can, because they see them as their sons and love them.”

This story has an ending everyone can get on board with, but it also serves as a good reminder of that this could happen to anyone.

It’s because of situations like these that pet owners are urged to get their pets microchipped. The story of a deaf Jack Russel terrier who had been missing for 5 years is just one example.

The 16-year-old dog had been lost, but thankfully his owner had had the pup microchipped. In the end, it turned out to be the smartest thing she ever did, as it allowed them to be reunited.

If you’ve ever lost a pet, you can probably relate to these stories. Hopefully more pet owners will see the value in microchipping so that fewer lost animal stories occur in the future.
