Family Forgets To Take Garbage To Curb, Finds Them Empty. Then Security Footage Reveals Culprit
We rarely speak to them. Many times we don’t even see them.
If you’re like me, you drag your garbage cans to the curb the night before, or super early in the morning. You go about your day and return in the evening to find the cans empty.
This routine repeats each week. Full cans sit on the curb, and then, magically, they have been emptied.
But it isn’t magic that removes our weekly waste. It’s the men and women who serve our communities in an often thankless job.
They come and go without a word, and while their trucks are loud and we can hear them from a mile away, those behind the wheel very rarely make a sound at all. Many times my can has been overflowing, or I had to put some empty boxes to the side that just wouldn’t fit inside.
And, every time, they take it all. Every last piece of garbage, no matter how inconvenient.
But what if you forget to take your cans to the curb? What then?
Mine are stored in my garage (thank you, HOA). So, there’s not much hope for me when it comes to being forgetful.
However, there are those who keep their cans visible at the top of the driveway. And it seems several instances have occurred in which these families have found their garbage man (or woman) went above and beyond despite the inconvenience.
One family recently shared such an instance. And their security camera caught the entire thing.
I don’t know about you, but if this happened to me I’d be stunned. And extremely grateful, indeed.

And do you want to know the best part? Turns out the man in the video wasn’t even this family’s driver!
According to an update below the original post on Reddit, the user shared, “(A)fter some sleuthing, the guy (does) work for the garbage company, but is not our driver. He’s our neighbor that lives a half mile up the road.”
“Apparently,” the update continued, “he checks the neighborhood on trash day and takes trash to the street for forgetful people like us or the elderly.”
Wow! What a guy! It’s men like him who remind us we have a choice to serve others outside our nine-to-five work hours.
