Flashback: Jesse Jackson Applauded Trump's Effect on African-American Community
President Donald Trump is a racist — at least, that’s what the mainstream media is desperate for people to believe.
CNN anchor Don Lemon called the president exactly that during a recent rant, triggered by Trump’s alleged use of a word “s**thole” to describe places like Haiti.
Everyone on the left seems to have made it their mission to convince the public that the name “Donald Trump” is synonymous with racism… but they seem to have forgotten what their own side said about Trump a few decades ago.
A video clip of Jesse Jackson praising Trump in 1999 is getting renewed attention after it was posted on Twitter by former White House science adviser Oliver McGee.
“In 1999, Rev. Jesse Jackson praised [Donald Trump] for his lifetime of helping the African American and minority community,” McGee reminded the country.

“I now want to bring forth a friend,” Jackson stated in the video, referring to Trump.
“He is deceptive in that his social style is of such, one can miss his seriousness and his commitment to success, which is beyond argument,” the well-known civil rights leader explained.
“When we opened this Wall Street project and we talked about it, he gave us space at 40 Wall Street, which was to make a statement about our having a presence there,” Jackson continued. “And beyond that, in terms of reaching out, and being inclusive, he’s done that too.”
His reference to being “inclusive” at 40 Wall Street is a reference to Trump Tower, where the future president provided space free of charge for Jesse Jackson’s organization.
“Donald J. Trump received an ovation when he announced that he would donate office space to Mr. Jackson’s civil rights group, the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition, in 40 Wall Street, a 72-story building he is renovating,” the New York Times reported around that time. The paper also noted that Trump and Jackson were “good friends.”
Trump himself spoke highly of minorities in a followup to Jackson’s statement.
“I will tell you a large percentage of the people, and especially in construction, that are building these jobs are black and minorities, and I’m very proud of it,” Trump acknowledged.
“We have close to 25% and I think the number’s going up. And they do a great job. There are no better builders than we have in New York, and a big percentage of that is black and minority folks,” he explained.
It’s amazing: Before he entered politics, Donald Trump was praised by black leaders like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. He was friends with them. He hired minorities in high numbers and was proud to do so.
Suddenly — now that it’s politically convenient — the exact same crowd has turned on Trump and thrown him under the bus.
What is more likely: That after decades of having good relations with the black community in New York and elsewhere, Donald Trump magically became a racist, seemingly overnight?
Or… perhaps now that he’s a Republican president, Democrat-allied hucksters like Jackson have realized he’s their political enemy, and they value clinging to power more than speaking the truth about their former friend.
Nobody but Trump can say with certainty what is in his heart, but the facts speak for themselves.
