Former Football Player Body Slams Alleged Shoplifter, And We Have the Footage
When stupid people play stupid games, they often times have a stupid prize headed their way.
Case in a point, a real-life Grinch tried his hand at shoplifting just in time for Christmas. He very well might’ve gotten away with it too, if it hadn’t been for a former high school football player.
As WISN-TV reported, Christopher Simpson tried to steal $272.14 worth of video games from a Walmart in Greenfield, Wisconsin.
He was just about to exit the store with the goods when another shopper dropped the hammer, pun very much intended.
Mark Hammer, a former defensive end in high school, body slammed the thief and held him in place until the authorities arrived.
According to WITI-TV, Hammer, 34, played the role of good Samaritan while apprehending Simpson, 39.
Hammer noticed something was awry when he saw Simpson assault an elderly Walmart employee.
“The suspect pushed the employee down. He’s an older gentleman … I didn’t like that and I said no you aren’t going to do it,” Hammer told WITI-TV.
Simpson, who had stuffed unpaid video games into a black plastic bag, had the gall to accuse Hammer of assaulting him.
“The suspect said he was going to have me arrested for assaulting him,” Hammer recalled. “I told him well I’m not assaulting you I’m just holding you until the cops get here.”
According to police reports obtained by WITI-TV, Simpson wasn’t alone.
Simpson’s 31-year-old girlfriend had already been apprehended by a loss prevention officer by the time Simpson tried to make his dash. She had been busted trying to steal $172.32 worth of various merchandise. Sh was also found with drug paraphernalia.
“I don’t like that, I don’t like what they did,” Hammer said. “I just hope they got their life straightened out and they start doing better.”
Walmart employees have already been enjoying some extra Christmas cheer thanks to President Donald Trump’s blazing economy, but it’s still nice to see everyday civilians doing what they can to help.
