Garth Brooks Sends Personal Invite with Concert Tickets to Woman with Terminal Cancer
For one Garth Brooks fan, a recent VIP trip to his concert in St. Louis meant so much more than just a good time.
Victoria Frederick has terminal colon cancer. In 2017, she had reached stage 4 with the cancer spreading from her liver to her lungs.
Frederick posted on the Garth Brooks Fan Club Facebook page that a concert she attended in Indianapolis at the time “was phenomenal.”
“Trisha (Yearwood) sang the battle song for cancer fighters such as me — my tears just flowed,” Frederick wrote.
Now she continues her battle day by day. In October 2018, Frederick was supposed to attend another Garth Brooks concert at Notre Dame.
Sadly, the true fan could not attend due to her health. “I was just coming off of a chemo round and it was too cold for me to go,” she told WSBT.
For anyone unfamiliar with the ups and downs of chemotherapy, cold weather can trigger neuropathy, a common side effect of the treatment.
But, as Frederick puts it, she has “Friends in Low Places.” Though she wasn’t able to attend the Notre Dame concert, her kids were, and boy did they make the most of it!
Frederick’s son, Ean Frederick, somehow got a hold of Garth Brooks that night. The video he sent his mom afterward is priceless.
A personal invite from Garth Brooks to receive the VIP treatment at one of his concerts? Yes, please! Of course, Frederick was ecstatic.
It seemed too good to be true, but the country legend kept good on his promise. He didn’t disappoint and made sure Frederick had a weekend that was all about her.
Frederick was flown out to Indianapolis for Brooks’ concert in March 2019 where she experienced a weekend to remember.
Her son Ean shared their whirlwind of a weekend on Facebook. From the front row seat sound check on Friday night to the live concert Saturday, Frederick was in heaven.
She even got to chat with Garth Brooks and give him a hug. Frederick’s husband, Bob, and daughter, Emily, were also in attendance.
“Dad hates crowds but for this adventure he braved them,” Emily Frederick wrote on Facebook. “When Garth played his favorite song which happens to be Momma’s favorite as well, Dad got up and asked mom to dance. How sweet and precious this moment was.”
We couldn’t agree more! Such a sweet memory for this family as they face so much. And now we have just one more reason to love Garth Brooks — as if we needed one!
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Frederick family during this time. As for Garth Brooks, we have a feeling this won’t be the last time he performs a random act of kindness for a fan.
