George W Bush Just Made His 1st Hole-in-One at 72 Years Old
Former President George W. Bush accomplished a feat on the golf course that some players never get to celebrate: the satisfaction of making a hole-in-one.
The 43rd president of the United States recorded his first hole-in-one at age 72, he announced on Instagram on March 20.
Bush was in Dallas, Texas, at the Trinity Forest Golf Club, when he successfully made the elusive shot on the par-3 12th hole on the course.
Bush was quick to credit the golfers in his life that made that glorious hole-in-one possible.
“With coaching from @thebushcenter CEO Ken Hersh and board members Mike Meece and Bill Hickey, I scored my first hole-in-one at the home of our Warrior Open and the @attbyronnelson.”
Always reaching for the next goal, Bush announced he wants to “Live to 100 so I can shoot my age.”
Fans and fellow golfers were quick to congratulate the former president on his social media account, many pointing out how healthy and strong Bush looks at age 72.
“Congratulations President Bush! Always great to accomplish this with a group of friends!” one Instagram user wrote.
“Bravo! Still waiting for mine!” wrote another.
The Warrior Open that Bush referred to in his post takes places this year on May 5-6 at the Trinity Forest Golf Club and is aimed at honoring wounded veterans.
The event is a “highly competitive golf tournament that underscores the importance of sports as a rehabilitation component for our men and women injured on the front lines,” according to the George W. Bush Presidential Center.
“The events amplify and draw attention to the service, sacrifice, and resilience of post-9/11 warriors and their families, particularly the issues they face in making a successful transition to civilian life.”
Bush has been the proud host of the tournament since its inception in 2011.
