Georgia linebacker gives Baker Mayfield 2 choice words of advice
If you’re going to give it out, you’d better be able to take it.
There’s been no more flamboyant, trash-talking player in college football this season than Oklahoma’s Baker Mayfield.
From enthusiastically planting the Sooners’ flag at Ohio State after a key early-season victory to his infamous crotch grab directed at the Kansas Jayhawks during a game at Lawrence, Mayfield has made his mark.
On New Year’s night, however, Mayfield had some of that brash behavior shoved back at him.
Oklahoma blew a 17-point halftime lead to Georgia in the Sugar Bowl before succumbing 54-48 in double overtime.
With the collapse went the Sooners’ national championship hopes.
Bulldog linebacker Davin Bellamy took the opportunity to let the Heisman Trophy winner have it, yelling at Mayfield after the game to “humble yourself!”

It might seem, well, not very humble to be shouting at another player to be humble, but you certainly get the feeling that much of the country agreed.
For his part, Mayfield — battling flu-like symptoms — did indeed show humility after the devastating loss.

Mayfield also took the time to send out a tweet to Sooner Nation.
Thank you Sooner Nation. Thank you for giving me never ending support. I hope you know I gave it everything I had. It has been and unbelievable ride and I'm so glad we enjoyed it together. I love y'all. God Bless and Boomer. -Bake

Mayfield certainly did his part to put the Sooners in a position to win on Monday. He threw for two touchdowns and caught another on a flea-flicker play.
But he managed only 85 yards passing in the second half as the Georgia defense clamped down on the Sooners. The Bulldogs allowed a season-high 31 points in the first half.
It’ll be up to NFL personnel to decide whether Mayfield has really matured, or if this was just heat-of-the-moment emotion.
Either way, the Baker Mayfield experience is now complete — at least on the college level.
