GOP Creates "Crumbs" Bill to Give Back to Taxpayers, Humiliate Pelosi
Who could forget when, in the wake of the GOP tax bill, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi dubbed the $1,000 bonuses received by Home Depot employees as mere “crumbs”?
As Vice President Mike Pence aptly put it, “If you’re going to say that $1,000 is crumbs, you live in a different world than I’m living.”
No kidding.
Ever since Pelosi’s condescending and tone-deaf comment in January, politicians and average Americans alike haven’t let her forget it.
Those crumbs are really starting to add up…https://t.co/THZWWk4BTZ

Now, rather than just scathing tweets, Republicans in Congress are throwing those crumbs back in Pelosi’s face.
Unveiled by Indiana Rep. Todd Rokita, a new bill titled, “Creating Relief and Useful Middle-Class Benefits and Savings,” or “CRUMBS,” would make employee bonuses given as a result of the GOP tax plan tax-free.
Since the new tax plan, at least 346 companies have given workers bonuses or raises or increased contributions to employees’ 401(k), Americans for Tax Reform reported.
According to Fox News, the new bill would apply to bonuses up to $2,500.
“Americans are receiving thousands of dollars in bonuses and more money in their paychecks thanks to President Trump’s tax reform, but out-of-touch Democratic leaders believe they only amount to crumbs,” Rokita said in a statement.
“The CRUMBS Act will let Americans keep more of the money they receive as a result of President Trump’s tax reform, and allow them, not the government, to choose how best to spend their bonuses,” he continued.
God bless America!
Imagine that, leaders who actually believe American workers deserve to keep more of their hard-earned money — and who believe employers have the right to dole out money to their employees as they see fit, without the government taking a portion for itself.
“CRUMBS” — a bill that simultaneously takes a jab at Nancy Pelosi and helps hardworking Americans — that’s something almost everyone can get behind.
Oh, and good luck in the midterms, Democrats. Your “we care about the little guy” charade isn’t fooling anybody.
