Graham to Whiny Libs: 'If You Want To Pick Judges, Win an Election'
Republican Sen, Lindsey Graham had some harsh words Tuesday for Senate Democrats for opposing the confirmation of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.
As part of his opening statement before the first day of Kavanaugh’s hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee, Graham lectured Democrats by saying he got “a lot of crap” for voting for Justices Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor during the Barack Obama administration.
“I’m here to tell anybody in the country who listens that this is so hypocritical of my friends on the other side,” Graham said.
Despite disagreeing with Kagan and Sotomayor politically, he said, he voted for them because he thought they were qualified for the position, according to CBS News.
“They were different than what I would have picked but by any reasonable measure they were qualified,” Graham said.
Check out a portion of Graham’s remarks here:
After Tuesday’s hearing turned into a raucous show of Democrat senators staging procedural objections and liberal protesters having to be removed from the hearing room, President Donald Trump also weighed in on the Democrats’ behavior on Twitter.
“The Brett Kavanaugh hearings for the future Justice of the Supreme Court are truly a display of how mean, angry, and despicable the other side is,” Trump said.
….looking to inflict pain and embarrassment to one of the most highly renowned jurists to ever appear before Congress. So sad to see!

The White House also released a briefings statement outlining why Kavanaugh is exceptionally qualified, impartial, and devoted to precedent.
The fact sheet included the number of times Kavanaugh ruled against Republicans and the Bush administration as a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. It also showed that judges named by Democrat presidents are nearly as likely to agree with Kavanaugh’s opinions as those put on the bench by Republicans.
“His opinions are as likely to be joined in full by his Democrat-appointed colleagues (88.67 percent) as by his Republican-appointed colleagues (88.94 percent),” the fact sheet said.
On paper it seems that Kavanaugh would be the best choice and most impartial pick for the job. But for Democrats invested so completely in obstructing Trump’s agenda, Kavanaugh is unacceptable.
Graham had a word of advice for the opposition party.
“You had a chance and you lost. If you want to pick judges from your way of thinking, then you better win an election,” he said.
It seems that Democrats are not concerned with how qualified or impartial Kavanaugh is. They want a Democrat instead.
Maybe they will be able to appoint their own justices someday if they can offer a candidate that voters actually want.
