Gronkowski takes jab at front office with real reason he isn't working out
As Patriots fans hang on every clue, Rob Gronkowski is clearly enjoying the “Will he or won’t he?” game regarding his future.
The All-Pro tight end was back at Gillette Stadium on Saturday — not working out with teammates, but taking part in a Supercross event.

Last week, Gronkowski and Tom Brady were noticeably absent from New England’s voluntary workout program.
The tight end explained Saturday that he had something more important to do: He was “training for this dirt-biking.”

As great a football player as he is — and he’s likely going to the Hall of Fame — Gronk is proving equally adept at teasing his fans.
Gronkowski was asked if he had anything to say to his fans.
“They’re going to see a freek-a-leek when I come back. That’s what.”

The Athletic reports that Gronkowski’s base salary for next season is $8 million, with a chance for another million tied to incentives (including taking part in the team’s offseason workout program).
Many believe that Gronk’s uncertainty about playing is tied to complaints about being underpaid.
Threatening retirement may be an effective ploy, but putting his body in harm’s way riding a dirt bike probably won’t have Patriots management rushing to give him more money.
