HGTV Buys 'Brady Bunch' House with Plans To Restore Home 'To Its 1970s Glory'
We all have our favorite television families. Some of us grew up feeling like one of the Tanners from “Full House,” while others remember being a part of the Keaton crew from “Family Ties.”
There’s one television family everyone will recognize whether you’re a modern millennial or a classic baby boomer.
Mike and Carol Brady were everyone’s favorite TV couple from 1969-1974. And there’s at least one Brady kid we all closely identify with.
Whether you’re a popular gal like Marcia or an awkward misfit like Jan, there’s certainly one Brady personality with whom you associate yourself.
No matter which character you related to best, if you’re a fan of “The Brady Bunch” you probably imagined living in the iconic 1970s home at one time or another.
Though the Los Angeles home has already been bought at a huge price, you’ll still have a chance to see the interior once it’s been redone.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the popular network which made “Fixer Upper” couple Chip and Joanna Gaines famous won a bidding war for the house that was featured in the nostalgic show.
CEO of Discovery Inc. David Zaslav said, “I am excited to share that HGTV is the winning bidder and will restore “The Brady Bunch” home to its 1970s glory as only HGTV can.”
While the winning bid amount has not been reported, we do know the set of “The Brady Bunch” was not actually inside the Studio City residence.
It only served as the exterior. The split-level home boasts 2 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, and 2500 square feet.
A tweet on August 3 by former N’Sync member Lance Bass revealed that an offer on the home was already extended and accepted.
Super excited to announce they accepted my offer on the #BradyBunch house last night!!! This is going to be a fun project!

He shared his excitement with his followers, and they returned the sentiment by liking the post 4,000 times.
While Bass offered $1.885 million, a more recent tweet confirmed that he will not be the future owner after all.

On August 4, the singer shared a sad post with fans, explaining that a corporate buyer put in an offer for the house at “any cost,” even after the bidding deadline had closed.
“I’m hurt and saddened… I just hope it’s not demolished,” Bass wrote. “Thanks for all the love and support.”
But the filmmaker isn’t holding the incident against HGTV. Another tweet by Bass gave “kudos” to the network, and Bass even said “I know you will do the right thing with the house.”
HGTV??! Aw man. I’d be pretty upset if it were anyone else, but how can you be mad at HGTV?? My television is stuck on that channel. Kudos HGTV, I know you will do the right thing with the house. That was always my biggest worry. I can smile again. ?

Poor guy, but at least he has a good attitude about the loss. Whatever happens, we can’t wait to see the inside once it’s finished.
Deadline reported Zaslav’s words regarding the HGTV project.
“More detail to come over the next few months,” he said. “But we’ll bring all the resources to bear to tell safe, fun stories about this beloved piece of American TV history.”
