Homeless Man Helps NFL Star Make It to Playoff Game in Time
A homeless man helped a stranded Kansas City Chiefs offensive lineman make it to a playoff game in time for kickoff on Jan. 13.
As crowds poured into Arrowhead Stadium for the playoff game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Indianapolis Colts, drivers battled snowy roads and wintry conditions.
While driving to the game, offensive lineman Jeff Allen found himself stranded in his vehicle in the snow.
Allen received help from a good Samaritan who stopped to help several stranded vehicles that day — a homeless man named Dave Cochran.
“I was driving down (U.S.) 40 Highway and saw a couple cars stuck,” Cochran told WRAL-TV.
“I pulled one car out before that, then I saw another car stuck and I told my old lady, ‘We have to help him.'”
“It said Texas plates,” Cochran said. “He wasn’t used to this weather. He isn’t used to this coldness. He is from Texas.”
Cochran, who lives in his truck with his girlfriend, didn’t know he was helping an NFL star — he was simply out to help whoever was in need.
“I went to help him, then he told me he was a Chiefs player,” Cochran said.
“I didn’t know he was a Chiefs player. I looked at him as a normal person and hoped he would do the same for me like I did for him.”

Thanks to Cochran, Allen was able to get out of the snow and make it to the game on time.
After the Chiefs victory over the Colts, Allen was eager to track down the mystery man so he could offer him tickets to the AFC Championship game in Kansas City.
Allen explained the situation on Twitter, asking for help in tracking down the good Samaritan.
Social media users came to Allen’s aid, and it wasn’t long before Allen had the name of the man who helped him out of the snow.
Cochran said he’s never been to a Chiefs game before and is blown away that Allen would track him down to give him tickets.
“It’s like a dream come true,” Cochran said.
“I saw the message this morning, and I am not going to fake with you, call me soft if you want to homeboys, I started bawling to know he is a man of his word and he reached out to contact me.”
Cochran would have been happy with a simple, “thank you,” but now, he’s primed to attend the Chiefs showdown with the New England Patriots on Jan. 20.
