Hours After Birth of Baby, Exhausted Dad Mistakes Robe for Newborn & Cuddles It
Every parent has been there. Having a newborn is exhausting, to say the least. The first few hours are precious and the baby usually drifts in and out of sleep.
Then comes the first all-nighter. Mom and dad are spent, barely able to keep their eyes open, but that sweet bundle of joy just won’t settle.
Even as I share the woes of parenting, I’m bouncing my sweet 3-month-old in his bouncer with my foot — a common activity during my writing time these days.
But it’s part of the job description, and no matter how tired you are, you’d give anything for your child — even if it means losing sleep for the next 18 years.
One new mom shared a hilarious video on social media shortly after the birth of her son, Noah. Last spring, Elizabeth Motomura and her husband Shayde announced on Facebook that they were expecting a baby.
Every new parent spends months preparing to welcome a new addition to their world. But nothing could have prepared them for the moment Elizabeth captured on film.
“THIS IS TOO MUCH,” she wrote on Facebook. “SOMEONE PLEASE COME GET THIS MAN … I will laugh at this for the rest of our lives.”
Apparently, Shayde was so exhausted, the poor dad couldn’t tell the difference between a robe and a newborn.
Elizabeth is right, this is too much. If you don’t believe it’s possible, watch for yourself. It’s clear the man needs more than a few hours of shut-eye.
The best part is when he starts lightly bouncing the bundled up robe to soothe the baby that isn’t there. Oh my goodness, it’s too funny!
I loved how Elizabeth kept scanning back and forth between the real baby and the fake one her husband was holding. I’ll bet their son will love watching this when he gets older.
Thankfully it would appear that despite Shayde’s lack of sleep, the trio is doing just fine. He posted a precious picture of baby Noah which was welcomed on Facebook with lots of “oohs” and “ahhs” from family and friends.
What a sweet little family. We’re so happy for them and wish them all the best as they start this new chapter of their lives.
Can you relate to this new dad’s exhaustion? If you’ve had a newborn around, you probably know exactly how Shayde felt.
Because parenting is truly all kinds of cuddle-a-robe exhausting, but in the end, the yawns and the eye rubs are totally worth it.
