Iconic Couple Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell Received Adjoined Hollywood Stars

Share

“She is a film legend. She is an icon. She is a true movie star.” Reese Witherspoon spoke these words about her “idol” at a very special double Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony.

Many of us remember the first time we fell in love with Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell. Overboard remains a classic to which no romantic comedy film can hold a candle.

Of course, the iconic couple met long before Hawn played a socialite snob with amnesia turned sweet housewife with a big heart.

The year was 1966. Hawn and Russell met on the set of Disney’s “The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band.”

Almost 20 years would go by before Hawn and Russell would meet again on the set of “Swing Shift.” It was then they started dating, and the rest was history.

While Overboard wasn’t their first film together, it is undoubtedly the most recognized and the most quoted. After all, they made us believe that love like Katarina’s and Arturo’s was possible.

We have loved watching them shine both together and apart. We’ve admired how they’ve handled living and loving as a blended family over the years.

Do you love the original 'Overboard?'

Their acting skills and captivating love for each other have landed them both a great honor — one that every actor and actress dreams of. It is so appropriate they would have received it side by side and holding hands as always.

The Los Angeles Times reported the love birds received side-by-side Walk of Fame stars on May 4, 2017. A well-deserved honor after their many decades together, both on and off screen.

Reese Witherspoon was in attendance and gave a very touching speech, recalling how Hawn has influenced her in so many ways over the years.

“She just lights up the screen,” Witherspoon said through her tears. “She’s lit up my life and I just hope one day I can be held in the same regime that I hold her. She’s changed my life.”

Daughter Kate Hudson was also in attendance for the event. “I was slotted in to talk about my mother, but I have two parents and they’re both here,” Hudson shared regarding her mom and stepdad.

“I always thought I’d be talking about them at a wedding or something,” Hudson went on, according to The Times. “But since a wedding doesn’t seem to be in our near future, this seems to be my only opportunity.”

Though Hawn and Russell have never married, they’ve been together for what seems like forever. We can’t imagine one without the other and we are thrilled they have received this great honor!
