Indiana State Police End Lip Sync Challenge at Place It All Began with ‘Greatest Showman’ Performance
Let the lip syncing begin! Or rather, continue. Police departments across the country have been rising to the #LipSyncBattle challenge, posting viral videos all over social media.
According to ABC News, the challenge originated in June with a video posted by Alexander Mena. Mena is a deputy with the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office in Texas.
Though this video is hilarious and boasts 1.5 million views, is this really where the #LipSyncBattle began?
The men and women of the Indiana State Police Department claim the challenge really began back in 2016.
Indy Star reported these troopers were some of the first to record and share a video with officers lip syncing to popular songs.
The 2016 video features troopers patrolling the Indiana State Fair. Watch as these awesome officers rock out to “Summer Nights” from “Grease.”
This video’s a ton of fun, but these troopers have certainly stepped up their lip sync game since their debut 2 years ago.
Now they’re taking it back to where they claim it all started — at the Indiana State Fair. But this time they’ve decided to make their #LipSyncBattle video “The Greatest Show.”
What better place to perform a song from the smash hit “The Greatest Showman” than under the Big Top itself?
Their latest performance was created in response to Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department’s video. The officers of IMPD lip synced to Justin Timberlake’s “Can’t Stop the Feeling.”
The editing alone is hard to beat. IMPD made this one look like a real music video, mirroring Timberlake’s style by having officers sing all over the city.
Still, it’s hard to beat “The Greatest Show.” Watch as Indiana State Police troopers take the challenge back to the Indiana State Fair.
Initially, the video looks similar to their first, with officers patrolling the fairgrounds. But wait until they enter the circus tent. You have to see it to believe it.
Wow! Now that is definitely going to be hard to beat. The background performers add a lot of flair. These troopers don’t mess around when it comes to meeting a challenge.
What do you think? Do these troopers win the #LipSyncBattle once and for all? What’s your favorite #LipSyncBattle video?
