‘Inside Edition’ Host To Undergo Surgery After Observant Fan Spots Cancerous Lump

Share

Cancer is an unforgiving and fast-moving monster. It seems no one is immune, not even celebrities. We recently learned that beloved “Jeopardy” host Alex Trebek was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

Our hearts are with him, as well as with another television show host who found out she has a form of thyroid cancer.

Deborah Norville, an “Inside Edition” host, opened up to her fans in a video, explaining she’s grateful for one fan in particular who watched out for her.

“We live in a world of see something, say something, and I’m really glad we do,” she said. “When you work on television, viewers comment on everything.”

She went on to share how one viewer reached out regarding a lump on Norville’s neck. The 60-year-old had it checked out and was assured it was nothing.

Do you say something when you see something?

“For years, it was nothing,” Norville said. “Until recently it was something. The doctor says it’s a very localized form of cancer.”

Thankfully, Norville said the cancer will be removed by a surgeon, and no chemo or radiation treatments will be needed.

“If you believe in prayer, please say one for me — and for my surgeon,” she told her viewers. “And I thank you very much.”

We’re glad to hear all will be well and we will pray for Norville as she goes into her surgery. Whoever that keen-eyed viewer is, they may have saved a life by making the “Inside Edition” host more aware.

According to the American Cancer Society, a neck lump is just one of the signs of thyroid cancer. Other symptoms may include a hoarse voice, difficulty breathing and a cough that doesn’t seem to abate.

It’s important to recognize changes in your body and health, and to speak up if you notice them in someone else, too.

Like Norville said, “see something, say something” is such an important principle — one that might mean the difference between life and death in some cases.
