Internet Charmed by Caring Postal Worker Captured on Doorbell Cam
Good customer service isn’t hard to find. But excellent, above and beyond customer service? Now that’s something we all certainly hope to encounter.
One mail carrier did just that and made a homeowner’s day. A video uploaded to Reddit shows the mailman speaking with Karissa Basalyga through Ring.com, a doorbell security camera and app.
In the video, Basalyga can be heard speaking to the all-around nice guy. “Hey, we’re not home,” the homeowner begins.
“OK, I’m gonna take it back to the office,” the postal worker says, speaking of the package in his hands. “It’s from your Uncle Michael.”
But this guy doesn’t stop at kindly informing Basalyga where the package came from. He takes his kindness a step further and explains why he doesn’t want to leave it out in the open.
Even though Basalyga ensures the man he can go ahead and just “leave it” on the porch, he lowers his voice and asks if it would be OK to put it in the recycling bin.
Watch their entire encounter unfold. He didn’t have to take so much time, but his dedication to his job will melt your heart.

The interaction has gone viral, and it’s clear to see why. This guy needs to come to my neighborhood. We could use a kind soul like his.
“Hands down, he is awesome.” Basalyga told Inside Edition. “I don’t think I’ve ever had a mailman take such care, intentional care, with a package.”
It turns out the package from Uncle Michael contained some old coins. Thank goodness the man didn’t leave the package out, otherwise porch pirates might have taken the family gift.
It’s sad we live in a world where package swiping is a normal and expected occurrence. Thankfully, this mailman cared enough to handle the situation as if the package were his own.
Well done, Mr. Postman, whoever you are. May you be blessed for your thoughtfulness and compassion toward others.
