Internet Obsessed with Adorable Little Boy's Smile Before Giving Gift to Girlfriend

Human language is varied and complex. If you were to patiently page through the second edition of the 20-volume Oxford English Dictionary, for example, you’d find complete entries for 171,476 words in current use plus nearly 50,000 obsolete words.

These words have been used to compose breathtaking poetry, stirring public speeches and classic literature passages shared across generations. It sometimes seems like their versatility is almost endless.

Until you develop a massive crush on a special someone, that is.

Because hopeless infatuation tends to make even the best of us totally tongue-tied. At these times, words seem curiously insufficient to communicate the depths of our feelings.

Fortunately, this is where flowers come in handy.

Case in point: A Twitter user named Laura recently shared endearing snapshots of her sweet little brother. This handsome and hopeful suitor decided to bring a big bouquet to the apple of his eye on Valentine’s Day.

The glowing grins of this adorable pair are lighting up the internet. For the rest of us, it’s a great lesson about making someone’s day with a simple, heartfelt gesture.

According to the classroom.com website managed by Leaf Group Education, the language of flowers is officially known as “floriography.” It’s a form of expression that apparently dates back hundreds of years, to the Middle Ages.

Historical evidence suggests that the Egyptians, Chinese, Romans, and ancient Greeks all cited gifts of flowers in their various cultural tales. In particular, the Greeks actually associated these colorful blooms with their highest deities.

Since then, vibrant buds and blossoms have also become synonymous with specific meanings. An online guide called The Flower Expert actually lists all these connotations alphabetically, for easy reference.

The site indicates that daisies, for instance, symbolize cheerfulness, innocence and purity. It also mentions that sunny carnations often represent pride, beauty or admiration.

Laura’s little brother chose to give his best girl roses, and The Flower Expert notes that these special blooms carry detailed meanings based upon their color.

Yellow roses, for example, denote platonic friendship and concern. A mixed bouquet of roses tells your recipient that, while you haven’t zeroed in on your precise feelings, you think pretty darn highly of that person.

Laura highlighted her brother’s armload of gifts in her Twitter photos. In addition to an overflowing red rose bouquet, he even included some candy.

According to The Flower Expert, this basically trumpets a limitless level of love and affection. And just in case there was any doubt, the little guy’s megawatt smile makes his meaning crystal-clear.

Accordingly, the Twitterverse is melting — and expressing its own swooning sentiments with nearly 525,000 “likes.” But what really matters to Laura’s chivalrous brother is the fact that his little lady friend looks absolutely smitten herself.
