Jim Acosta's Warning to Us Proves How Out-of-Touch He Really Is

Share

CNN’s Jim Acosta — in an attempt to push his new book — might’ve made the single-most absurd remark in the history of words that have exited his mouth.

And that’s saying something.

According to The Daily Caller, in a Monday evening interview with CNN colleague Anderson Cooper, Acosta was questioned about his new book, “Enemy of the People: A Dangerous Time to Tell the Truth in America.”

As one could deduce, the book reportedly tells a story about President Donald Trump’s encounters with the left-leaning media — which include a majority of major media outlets.

But if you ask Acosta, it’s the “conservative media” that currently hold the power. “Anderson, I say this — It is no guarantee that [conservative media] get to stay in power forever. And so, another administration could come in and do the very same thing to them and say, ‘Well, Donald Trump did it. Guess what? We’re going to do it to you, too,” Acosta said.

That was after explaining to Cooper that he believes the president has made the non-conservative press the “enemy of the people” and pondered if that’s the “the kind of country we want to hand off to the next generation.”

When called out by Cooper about Acosta’s tendency to fight back with the president for the sake of getting a sound bite, Acosta explained that away in true Acosta style.

Do you think the liberal media outlets have too much control?

“The president of the United States, according to the Washington Post, has made approximately 10,000 false or misleading statements since he’s been president,” Acosta said. “That has put us in the position of being fact-checkers in real time, and that frustrates the White House, frustrates [President Donald Trump’s] team, frustrates [Trump’s] supporters. But … can you imagine if we spent the last two years never fact-checking him and letting all these statements fly?”

As expected, Cooper nodded in agreement with Acosta’s statement.

What was conveniently omitted during the interview was, well, all sense of reality.

First of all, the conservative media outlets are nowhere near the position of holding all the power. The liberal mainstream media essentially dominate the industry, from television to social media to print.

When the left turned rabidly anti-Trump after he beat Hillary Clinton to claim the White House, many of those same media outlets immediately made clear they were not fans of the new POTUS.

Their coverage shifted from news to news mixed with anti-Trump commentary. Then to outright fake news and disdain.

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

Social media networks such as Facebook and Twitter joined their ranks and essentially began to control the flow of information by censoring conservatives on numerous occasions. Google and YouTube have done the same.

There have even been Congressional hearings to address the growing concern of conservative censorship. That’s how bad it is.

I know people in the business who have lost nearly everything due to being censored or banned from major social media networks — all because those individuals shared their conservative viewpoint with the world.

If anybody holds the “power” in the media, it’s the liberals. Hands down.

Just because Trump began to fight back against the flow of fake and misleading stories about him and his administration — especially against grand-standers such as Acosta — now the liberal media is the victim.

Give me a break.

Make no mistake — Acosta may be annoying, but he’s not dumb. He knows the truth.

But he also knew he couldn’t sell a book to his liberal audience if he actually told the truth about what’s going on out there.
