Kensington Palace Releases Photos from Kate of Princess Charlotte's 1st Day of School
2018 will be a big year for Princess Charlotte, who will become a big sister and may have a role in the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
It seems like only yesterday, Princess Charlotte was born to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, and now she’s enjoying a huge milestone: her first day of school.
Kensington Palace released two photos of the 2-and-a-half-year-old Princess Charlotte starting preschool on Jan. 8.
She will have several months to settle in before becoming a big sister in April.
Princess Charlotte, who will turn 3 years old in May, started preschool at Willcocks Nursery School in London.
Her mother, Kate Middleton, captured the adorable moments that young Charlotte proudly left for her first day of school.
With a sweet smile, Princess Charlotte looks like a mini-me to the Duchess of Cambridge.
Her adorable dress coat shows off the classic Kate Middleton style that royal fans are so fond of.
Princess Charlotte donned a red Amaia Kids coat with matching red Mary Jane shoes. She wore a light pink scarf, brown tights, and an adorable child-sized pink backpack.
The palace announced in December that Charlotte would attend Willcocks Nursery School, a different school that her older brother, Prince George, attended when he began preschool.
Yearly tuition to send a student 5 days a week is around $12,000, according to Yahoo News.
Princess Charlotte will be one of 32 students, between the ages of 2 3/4 and 5 years old, who attend the school. She will begin learning to read, write, and perform simple math with “the minimum of pressure.”
Naturally, the school is pleased to have the young princess in attendance. Hosting a young royal will no doubt bring prestige and honor to the London school.
“We are delighted that The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have chosen the Willcocks Nursery School for Princess Charlotte,” the school announced in December. “We look forward to welcoming Charlotte to our nursery in January.”
Prince George, 4, attends Thomas’s Battersea in London. The school accepts children aged 4-13, so Charlotte will have some time before she joins her big brother at his school, should her parents choose to send her there.
Royal fans are swooning over Princess Charlotte’s latest milestone. “She is a doll!” one Instagram user wrote. “Hope you are enjoying school.”
