Little Boy Devastated When No One Comes to Birthday, Then Thousands of Strangers Step In
Any kid within close proximity to Peter Piper Pizza knows how epically awesome it is. Not only is their pizza delicious — in this mom’s humble opinion — but their games are barrels of laughter and fun.
What 6-year-old wouldn’t want to attend a party filled with pizza-eating, token-spending goodness? Did I mention Peter Piper Pizza also serves dessert pizza?
Sounds like the birthday party of every child’s dreams, right? Sadly, that’s not how it turned out for 6-year-old Teddy Mazzini of Tucson, Arizona.
According to Tucson News Now, Teddy’s mom, Sil, had the whole thing planned.
Invite all of Teddy’s 30 classmates from school? Check. Order pizza for all of them? Check. Get Teddy a gift? Check and double check.
Everything was ready — except for the party guests. They were more than a little late in arriving.
Sil told Tucson News Now that not a single classmate showed up for her son’s party on Oct. 21. Didn’t they know what they were missing? I said there’s dessert pizza, right?
It could have been a tragic ending to a very disappointing day. Thankfully, a big-hearted community stepped in to make this 6-year-old’s birthday the best one yet.
Not only has Teddy’s no-show birthday gone viral, earning him over 5,000 birthday wishes on social media, but his story also reached a local sports team.
Not just any local team either — the Phoenix Suns! That’s NBA basketball, in case you’re wondering. They gave Teddy and his mom tickets to their home game against the L.A. Lakers!
Whoa! While it’s certainly heartbreaking that, for whatever reason, none of this boy’s classmates showed up to celebrate, I’d say Suns tickets are a pretty sweet trade-off.
As for Teddy, his mom shared a video that Tucson News Now posted to Facebook so everyone could see how grateful the birthday boy is for all his birthday wishes.
What a sweetheart! I can’t imagine why anyone wouldn’t want to make every day Teddy’s birthday. It’s easy to see why he’s captured so much viral attention.
We extend our best birthday wishes as well, and we hope this fun 6-year-old has the best time at the Phoenix Suns game!
