Man Bites Police K-9 Unit, Learns the Dog Has Teeth Too
As a New Hampshire man learned, there are few things dumber than barricading yourself in a trailer while police are trying to arrest you. One of those things is biting a police dog.
As Fox News reported, police tried to arrest a man while investigating a shooting. After the suspect resisted arrest, the cops sent in K-9 Veda.
The man put the dog in a headlock, then bit her in the head.
Boscawen Police Lt. Jason Killary described what happened next.
“If you get into a biting competition with a police dog, you’re not going to win, they’re pretty good at it,” he explained.
After being bitten by the K-9, the man was subdued with a stun gun and arrested by police. Although he has not yet been identified, police have confirmed that the man has an existing arrest warrant.
There’s no shortage of idiots who think they can outrun, outsmart, or even outbite a police dog.
The internet is full of videos showing people who tried to challenge K-9 units and lost.
The video below shows police in Florida during a standoff with an armed criminal. Faced with arrest, the man fled. K-9 Dragon leaped into action, and the rest is viral internet material.
“It was a perfect application of a K-9,” an officer in the video said.
It’s not hard to see why, as the criminal made it less than 100-yards before the dog clamped down and brought him crashing to the ground.
Police dogs in many jurisdictions are protected under law, holding the same status as sworn officers of the law. Any attack on them is treated the same as assaulting a police officer. Some dogs are sworn in, and a select few are even trained to bark as if saying “I do.”
The federal government has even stepped in, and under the Federal Law Enforcement Animal Protection Act harming or killing police animals is now a crime across the United States.
Considering all of the laws in place and the stupidity of the New Hampshire man’s actions, it’s pretty much guaranteed he’s going to have a long stay behind bars.
