Man Stands on Chair at Restaurant to Publicly Propose Again to Wife of 20 Years
A long and happy marriage seems more a fairy-tale than anything these days. The divorce rate in America is high, with nearly half of all married couples ending the relationships they once vowed would last forever.
It’s a sad and sobering reality, and blended families are more commonplace than ever. Good can definitely come from heartbreaking situations, but seeing a couple “make it” still provides a spark of hope for those who struggle to get through the tough times.
From dynamic duos just announcing their engagement, to elderly pairs who remain together until one of them passes, marriage can be a beautiful gift. Just look at this couple — in 2017, Lori Botkin posted a photo celebrating 19 years with her guy, Lance.
Wedding photos almost always portray the ideal. All smiles, no tears — except the happy kind, of course.
But, all too often, the happiness depicted in such photos doesn’t last. People change, fight, and break up, wondering why in the world they got married in the first place.
And then there are people like Lance and Lori Botkin. Recently, a video of the two went viral on social media.
You won’t want to miss this tear-jerking moment. Watch as Lance professes his love for his now 20-year bride — his words are perfection.
“We’ve been married 20 years,” Lance begins. But it’s his big finish that leaves his wife emotional.
“Will you marry me for another 20 years?” he asks. Is there any guess as to what his wife answered?
Well, of course she said yes! Who wouldn’t, after that display?
But more touching than Lance’s public display of affection is where his heart obviously lies. “I love you with all my heart,” he said.
Awww. If I had been there, I would have hugged him.
Here’s to love that lasts a lifetime! Congratulations, Lance and Lori — may your next 20 years together be even sweeter than the first.
