Mario Lopez & Wife Receive Miracle Baby News After Believing It Wasn't in 'God's Plan'

Share

Celebrity pregnancy announcements are forever fun and exciting, for fans and family alike. Watching stars like Carrie Underwood, Chip and Joanna Gaines, and Meghan Markle bring new lives into the world is nothing short of joyous.

Now a new celebrity baby announcement is receiving some buzz, and all because the mom- and dad-to-be thought their time was up.

“Extra” host and “Saved By the Bell” icon Mario Lopez and his wife Courtney have two gorgeous children, but had always hoped for a third, and maybe even a fourth, eventually.

“I said I would have three,” Courtney told US Weekly in 2013, in response to her husband’s prodding to make it an even four eventually.

But, as 2018 came and almost left, and Courtney had yet to become pregnant, the famous couple wondered if they’d stay a family of four forever.

“If it didn’t happen, it wasn’t meant to be. Not part of God’s plan,” Mario told PEOPLE. “We have one of each.”

But just in time for Christmas, the Lopez clan learned they were expecting, though they waited to share the happy news with their fans until January.

“It snuck in, towards the end, so a bit of a Christmas miracle,” Mario shared with PEOPLE. And he, along with his wife and two kids (and their dog), announced that Christmas miracle on Instagram on Jan. 11, 2019.

The video begins as a “Lopez Family Update.” The kids share about their activities and Mario talks about being busy with work.

But then Mrs. Lopez steals the spotlight and it’s all cheers and dancing from there. Watch as this family celebrates the gift of new life.

“I’m having a baby!” Courtney sings, showing off her little baby bump. Mario explains they don’t have a clue as to the gender, but each of his kiddos have their own opinions on the matter.

Five-year-old Nico is hoping for a little brother, while 8-year-old Gia has her fingers crossed for a baby sister. Either way, Mario says they’ll just be glad for a healthy child.

We’re so excited for the Lopez family and their little one on the way, due in July 2019. Mario and Courtney plan to be surprised by the gender, and the actor explained he and his wife are “old school” in that regard.

We wish them all the best with their new bundle and will be praying for a safe and smooth delivery when the time comes.
