Meet Britain's Most Pampered Pooch: A 7-Year-Old Rescue Dog Living in Luxury

Share

We all know that people love their pets. But some people really, really love their pets.

Whenever a discussion of indulged animals comes up, I can’t help but think of billionaire Leona Helmsley’s privileged pooch Trouble. The tiny Maltese received a $12 million inheritance from her scandal-plagued owner (even though a judge eventually reduced it to a “mere” $2 million).

During her 12 years on the planet, Trouble enjoyed private jet flights, limo rides and white-glove, around-the-clock service. Not bad for a tiny canine.

Anthony Welsh, a 57-year-old trainer from Liverpool, England, may not have Helmsley’s billions. But that hasn’t stopped him from showering money on his own dog.

The pooch’s name is — wait for it — Princess Cleopatra Superchill. That’s a massive moniker for a Staffordshire Bull Terrier who started out life as a rescue dog.

Welsh discovered Princess Cleopatra Superchill in a shelter and adopted both her and her mother. “She was so quiet and completely different to the larger than life character she is now,” he told Metro.

“She was actually diagnosed with depression so I was on a mission to make her happy. In six months, I noticed a huge difference in her temperament and we’ve gone from strength to strength.”

How did Welsh move Princess Cleopatra Superchill from down-in-the-dumps doggie to carefree canine? By making her one pampered pooch.

The indulgence begins with her food. Welsh buys super-premium grub that runs around £40 ($53 USD) a bag.

He also exercises her every day, which includes runs and time on her own bespoke mountain bike. And those aren’t the only things Princess gets to ride in.

Welsh purchased three toy sports cars intended for children. The white convertible, off-road vehicle, and Formula One speedster set him back £500 ($660 USD) each.

Princess Cleopatra Superchill gets more than mere material possessions. She also receives top-notch services that would make any spa addict envious.

She gets regular manicures and massages, and Welsh sings her to sleep each night. For her seventh birthday, Welsh took her to a beach party in New Brighton.

Princess Cleopatra Superchill got to frolic on the beach with her bulldog “boyfriend” Frank. Later, she enjoyed steak, cake, presents, and balloons.

All told, Welsh has spent an incredible amount on his dog. He estimates the amount he has lavished on her at £40,000 ($52,700 USD).

“Cleo is just amazing,” Welsh said. “She really is one in a million.

“People may think I spoil her, but she’s like a daughter to me. And if I have the means, why not give her everything?”
