Here's How Meghan Markle Will Spend Her 1st Birthday as Member of Royal Family
How do celebrate your birthday each year? Maybe you throw a big bash for all of your friends. Or maybe you keep it simple and just have a quiet dinner with a few close friends and family.
Now how do you think royals celebrate their birthdays? Royal balls? Extravagant garden parties?
Meghan Markle’s plans for her upcoming birthday show that it isn’t always as glamorous as we would imagine.
On August 4, 2018, the Duchess of Sussex will turn 37-years-old.
Last year, her then-boyfriend, Prince Harry swept her away for a romantic African getaway to celebrate the big day.
Prince Harry has been very vocal about how special the continent of Africa is to him. At the time, many speculated that they would return engaged, but it wasn’t until November that their engagement was announced.
The couple married in May 2018.
This will be Markle’s first birthday as a part of the royal family, but she doesn’t have any extravagant plans. Sometimes royal duties take precedence over birthdays or even honeymoons.
Instead, the newlywed couple will be attending Charlie Van Straubenzee’s wedding on August 4th.
Prince Harry and Van Straubenzee have been friends since childhood. Van Straubenzee attended Prince Harry and Markle’s wedding back in May.
Now the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be able to return the favor and celebrate a close family friend’s marriage.
In fact, according to royal photographer Tim Rooke, Prince Harry is even going to be Van Straubenzee’s best man!
He tweeted, “Unfortunately I will be missing the wedding of Charlie Van Straubenzee and Daisy Jenks where Prince Harry will be best man on August 4th in Churt Surrey as I will be on the beach. Can’t do everything!”
Prince William and Kate Middleton are also expected to attend.
Even though Markle’s first birthday as a royal won’t be as magical as you may have thought, I’m sure Prince Harry will find a way to make his new wife feel loved and celebrated.
