Melania Gives Glimpse of Life With Donald: Shows the World Official Christmas Portrait
I disagree with them, but I can at least understand why leftists and Democrats attack Trump’s ideologies and policies.
Leftists don’t believe in the sanctity of secured borders? Of course they’re opposed to Trump’s wall. (Or are they?)
Democrats love their identity politics? Of course they want to flood the country with illegal immigrants to weaken Trump.
Again, I couldn’t disagree with their stances more. But I at least understand, from a purely motive-driven standpoint, why they’re such awful people.
What I will never understand is the left’s insistence on attacking Donald Trump’s marriage to Melania.
I’ve always felt that the title of “first lady” is rather superfluous, but, save for perhaps Michelle Obama, at least it’s a mostly inoffensive position.
It’s hard to interpret leftist attacks on the Trumps’ marriage as anything more than hateful and mean-spirited.
For crying out loud, Melania’s biggest public effort as first lady is an anti-bullying campaign. What’s there to hate about that?
Yet that hasn’t stopped the leftist media from dragging Melania through the mud, whether it’s by diminishing her role as nothing more than “a Trump” or by depicting her as a stripper in rap videos.
In the face of such hate, and especially with Christmas around the corner, it’s nice to be afforded a glimpse behind the curtain and into the fact that the Trumps are still a very American family with traditional values and traditions, like Christmas portraits.
The first lady afforded us that glimpse by posting a lovely Christmas portrait to her Twitter account.
Merry Christmas from President Donald J. Trump and First Lady Melania Trump. @POTUS & @FLOTUS are seen Saturday, December 15, in their official 2018 Christmas portrait, in the Cross Hall of the White House in Washington, D.C. (Official White House Photo by Andrea Hanks) pic.twitter.com/nIuplZSDBe

“Merry Christmas from President Donald J. Trump and First Lady Melania Trump,” the tweet reads.
Unsurprisingly, leftists responded to the photo in droves, with many telling her it’s going to be her last Christmas in the White House, or photoshopping Donald Trump to look like a clown or prison inmate.
Yet in the face of unflinching and hateful drivel from the left, the photo does a wonderful job of quietly repudiating that noise.
Again, it’s one thing to attack the policies. But why attack their marriage? Strip away the pomp and politics, and the Trumps are no different than the married couple next door to you.
Apparently, that reality is too much for the left to handle.
