Michael J. Fox & Wife Celebrate 30 Years of Marriage, It's 'Us Against the World'

Michael J. Fox and wife Tracy Pollan opened up about their remarkable romance and love for each other in an interview with People magazine.

Thirty years ago, the couple exchanged vows in a small wedding in Vermont.

They recently sat down with People magazine and revealed the secret to a long marriage.

“Just give each other the benefit of the doubt. He assumes I’m doing the best I can,” Pollan said.

Fox added, “Find the best things about you and the best things about life and celebrate them.”

The couple’s love story begins in 1985 when Pollan auditioned for a role on “Family Ties.” Although Pollan left the series after only one season, but she later reunited with Fox for the film “Bright Lights, Big City.”

During the filming of the movie, Fox asked Pollan to have lunch with him. They then started dating and got married the next year.

The pair has been inseparable ever since, showing that an enduring Hollywood romance is indeed possible.

Do you believe in true love?

They could be considered to be an unlikely pair as they each come from differing backgrounds.

Fox, 57, was raised as an Episcopalian Army brat. He dropped out of high school and eventually earned his GED when he was in his 30s.

Pollan, 58, hails from a prominent Jewish New York family. She went to school at the Lee Strasberg Institute.

When comparing their backgrounds, Fox and Pollan admit that they were different, but they share many similarities in how they were raised.

“Big families, middle children,” Fox told People. “Sense of humor. Both our families had that.”

“It was us against the world,” Pollan told People of her own upbringing. “That’s exactly what we’ve created.”

While the two are certainly in love, it hasn’t always been easy for Fox and Pollan. The pair has been through sickness, health and the skeptical eye of the media.

Pollan has stood by Fox’s side through his 1991 diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease. Parkinson’s is a neurodegenerative disorder that causes tremors, stillness and a loss of motor skills over time.

Pollan showed solidarity with Fox as he battled the disease as well as alcohol addiction.

Fox has since become an activist for Parkinson’s, championing awareness and a cure for the disease.

Congratulations to Pollan and Fox on their anniversary. We can only all hope to be this successful in our marriages.
